"The LORD is my strength and song, and He has become my salvation." - Ex. 15:2

The name of this blog, He Is My Song, comes from my testimony - the moment a dear sweet saint spoke the name of Jesus over me, and it sounded like a song on her lips, the most beautiful word I had ever heard. That song never left.

I've walked with Christ since 1983. From the moment I was saved and could understand Scripture, it became my delight and I've spent my life trying to live in it and help others understand it too. This is my attempt to help other believers keep singing His Name, especially on the days they don't feel like it. A place for encouragement and admonition from Scripture, written mainly for women already walking with Christ who want to keep going deeper.

Some posts will be things the Lord has shown me over the years. Some will be a hard word I needed to hear myself first. All of it comes from the Word - not what's trending, not what's comfortable, and not what "Christian culture" has decided what is acceptable this year. Correct doctrine matters to me, and I let Scripture define it, not trend. I'm not a cessationist. I believe the gifts of the Spirit are still active today, but I also believe they come with guidelines, and should be tested against the Word, not accepted just because they look/feel spiritual. 

That's what this place is for - not just encouragement, but truth you can actually test and trust.

If the name of Jesus stirs that same song in your heart, then my friend, you've found the right place.

  I remember it vividly. We were at a Bible seminar and at the close of the service, some of the alumni had gathered together to catch up. I inquired about a certain fellow student and was informed that they had “left the faith”. I was shocked and asked what had happened. A Different Kind of Suffering by Holly D. Sands

For a long time I believed the only suffering a Christian was really called to was persecution - the cost of naming Christ in a world that hates Him. Jesus said it plainly: "If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you" (John 15:20). Paul said everyone who wants to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution (2 Timothy 3:12). That kind of suffering is real.  But I've come to believe there's another suffering required of us - one with a different aim entirely. Not suffering for the sake of the gospel going out, but suffering for the sake of us being made into something . Conformed. And I now believe that kind may be the most painful, and the most meaningful, tool the Lord uses on His own children. Either HE's GOD...or He's Not by Holly D. Sands

There's a phrase that's been sitting in my spirit this morning:   Either HE's GOD, or He's not. If He's God, He's God in all of it - the good, the bad, the easy and the hard. And if He's not God in the hard parts, then He's not really God at all; He's just a nice idea we keep around for when things are going our way. We believe Him easily when things are easy. It's not hard to trust God when the bills are paid and the kids are fine and the test results come back clear. Anybody can do that. F aith doesn't cost you anything in that season. Ah, but then something happens that has no natural explanation for how it gets fixed. The door doesn't open - in fact, it slammed shut in your face.
